Psychotherapy, Art Therapy and Mental Health Counselling in Toronto
My diverse educational background and professional credentials allow me to employ a number of different techniques, including psychotherapy, art therapy and mental health counselling, all of which have the potential to help my patients take steps toward positive change.
Psychotherapy and counselling are therapeutic techniques that utilize an interpersonal relationship between the therapist and the patient for the purpose of psychological well-being.
There is considerable overlap between the terms psychotherapy and counselling, but they are distinct approaches.
Psychotherapy utilizes ‘talk therapy’ to develop insight and self-understanding about a range of issues or concerns.
This can include general stress, anxiety, and feelings of depression. When you gain insight about the issues that are causing strain or difficulty in your life, it can have a positive impact on your resilience and coping skills, helping you become more effective at dealing with life’s challenges.
Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that utilizes creative means to express thoughts and feelings.
Like psychotherapy, it can help you to understand and manage difficult behaviours and feelings, and improve your self-esteem and awareness.
There is no need to be an artist to do art therapy, just the desire to try something creative and self-expressive.
